How much does it cost to move from the UK to Europe?
Example prices for every route we run, and what decides the price of yours.
With MuveOne, a removal from the UK to Europe costs from £882 to £7,113 at our prices of 13 October 2026, and more to Malta: £882 for our smallest size from London to Amsterdam, and £7,113 for our largest from London to Athens, customs clearance included. The example price for each of the 29 countries we serve from the UK is below. What it costs to move your own home depends on three things, the two places, the size of your load and the dates we can collect, and this guide shows how each one moves the price, what a quote covers, and the one cost that no quote of ours can include.
How much it costs to move to each of 29 countries
Each row is what our quote tool priced on 13 October 2026 for one example route in that country, for a collection from 24 November 2026, at three of our five sizes: the smallest, which shares a van with other moves, the middle size, and the largest, a vehicle of your own. Every price is in pounds and includes the customs clearance at both borders where the route has them. These are example prices, not a quote: yours is priced for your own two addresses and your own dates. Each country links to its route page.

The cost that is not in our price: import VAT and duty
Last year I quoted a customer who was bringing a few things home to the UK from a holiday home she was selling in Spain. She told me early on that she lived in the UK and was not changing where she lived. I did not see what that meant until weeks later, after I had spoken to our customs agent: her move did not qualify for relief, and she would pay VAT on her belongings and on the transport. She told me that made us more expensive, and that I had not said so before. She was right on the second point. The largest new cost in her move was not our price, and she heard about it from me late.
Relief from import VAT and duty is for people moving their home. The UK's transfer of residence relief does not cover goods from a second or holiday home, and without relief, VAT is charged at the standard rate, 20% in the UK, on the total value of the goods plus shipping, insurance and any duty owed. That is paid to the customs authority, not to us, and no quote can include it, because it depends on what your things are worth.
What has changed is when you find out. Our quote now asks what kind of move yours is before it gives a price. If customs will charge VAT and duty on top, the quote says so beside the price, and says that it is paid to the customs authority, not to us. Our customs page explains relief on your route, and if you are not sure your move qualifies, ask me before you book, not after.
What decides the price of a removal to Europe
The first thing is where. We price the road journey between the two places you name, ferry or tunnel included, so a longer journey costs more, and the far end counts as much as the near one. Your quote is for those two places: if your address turns out to be somewhere else, we price it again rather than hold you to a figure worked out for a different job.
The second is size. You book a size, a measured block of the vehicle, and the size you need is set by two things: how much room your things take, and how much they weigh against your route's weight limit. Our guide on why weight decides what fits explains the second, which is the one people miss.
The third is when. Your quote is priced for the collection window on it. Choose another window and every size is priced again for that window, which can bring the price down as well as up, and you see the new figures before you pay anything. Our two smallest sizes share a van, and our guide to sharing a van says when being flexible on dates is worth it.
What a removal quote covers, and what it does not
A customer moving from Oxfordshire to Lecce last autumn asked us the question I would ask first: so you'll do all the paperwork? Yes, and the cost of it is in the price. On every route that crosses a customs border, your quote includes the export declaration in the UK and the import clearance at the other end, as well as the transport door to door.
What it does not include is anything you ask us to add: packing, extra hands for loading, storage. Each is priced on your job once we know your inventory, and your quote names any you asked for, so nothing is left implied.
Another customer, moving to Barcelona, asked me what would be charged at the far end. The honest answer is on our pricing page: what is in the price, what is arranged separately, and the few charges we disclose up front rather than leave for the day. Booking locks the quoted price, and it holds across every size we offer.
What to check on a removal quote before you book
Before you pay a deposit, check these.
- Find your country in the table, then get a quote for your own two addresses and dates.
- Check the size against your inventory and your route's weight limit, not just the number of boxes.
- Check that the quote says what kind of move yours is, and whether VAT and duty will be due at the border.
- Check what the price covers: transport, customs clearance, and any extra you asked us to add.
- If your dates can move, ask what another window costs before you pay anything.
- Read the charges we disclose up front on our pricing page.
- Then send me your quote, and I'll go through it with you line by line.
