The Following are the Documents Required for Relocating to Greece:
As of January 1st, 2021, it is no longer possible to conduct paperless removals between the UK and the EU (and vice versa). Prior to Brexit, moving to Greece was just as straightforward as relocating to the UK. However, in order to avoid import VAT charges (equivalent to 24% of the total value of goods) for your belongings being moved to Greece, it is now necessary to adhere to the Transfer of Residence procedure. To obtain this status and avoid the aforementioned VAT charges, you will need to provide the documents listed below.
Please Note that We Cannot Proceed with the Collection of Your Belongings Until the Following Paperwork has been Completed:
A copy of either your passport or ID card.
A certificate from the local council in Greece certifying residency. Alternatively, if agreed upon by the EU customs agent, a document confirming that you are an EU resident or intend to become one will suffice. This may include:
- Completion and signature of the provided template by family members living in the EU, along with a copy of their personal ID and a utility bill with the address;
- Provision of your EU employment contract, if you are employed in the EU;
- A utility bill with your name and address, or tenancy agreement, or property ownership deed if you have living arrangements in the EU.
A detailed, signed packing list that includes the value, size, and weight of each item. All fields provided in MuveOne Insurance Form must be filled out.
A UK certificate of residence or other evidence indicating that you have lived in the UK for at least the past 12 months, such as 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address.
A self-certificate, using the provided template, to inform customs authorities that you have used the household objects at your usual residence in the UK for more than six months, and that you will not sell, rent or pledge them after receiving them in your new place. Additionally, it must be indicated that you aim to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
A signed authorization document for the customs clearance agent to act as your direct representative. A blank form will be provided by MuveOne after your booking is confirmed.
Please note that the aforementioned documents must be completed before the collection of your belongings. On the day of your move, you will also be provided with a CMR form (a cargo movement form) to fill out.
If you wish to expedite the process or gain further information, we recommend contacting your local customs office in Greece.
