Here are the Necessary Documents You will Need for Your Move to Luxembourg (After Brexit)
To move to Luxembourg, certain documents are now required due to the changes after Brexit. We can no longer offer paperwork-free removal services from the UK to Luxembourg. However, we are committed to assisting you in meeting the official requirements for residential moves between the UK and EU, ensuring a swift and secure transportation of your belongings to your new home. The provided documents play a crucial role in convincing the customs authority in Luxembourg that your move qualifies for a Transfer of Residence status. It’s important to note that after Brexit, moving your items without this status may result in regular import VAT being charged at a rate of 17% of the item’s value.
In Order for Us to Collect Your Goods, We Kindly Request that You Provide the Following Documents Prior to the Removal:
A clear copy of your ID card or Passport.
Certificate from the local council in Luxembourg certifying your residency. Alternatively, if approved by the EU customs agent, you may supply a document confirming your EU residency or intention to become one. For instance:
- If you reside with your family in the EU, please have them complete and sign this template. Moreover, please provide a copy of their personal identification document along with a utility bill that shows the address.
- If you are employed in the EU, please provide your EU employment contract document.
- If you have established living arrangements in the EU, provide a utility bill in your name and address, or your tenancy agreement, or the property ownership deed.
A Detailed and signed packing list specifying the value, size, and weight of each item listed. Please ensure that all fields in the Insurance Form are completed.
A UK certificate of residence or other evidence demonstrating that you have lived in the UK for at least the past 12 months. This could include 12 months’ worth of council tax bills or bank statements indicating your address.
Self-certificate (please use this template) to inform the customs authorities that you have utilized the household items at your UK residence for over six months, and you have no intentions of selling, renting, or pledging them once you receive them in your new location. Furthermore, confirm your intention to remain an EU resident for a minimum of one year.
Signed authorization granting the customs clearance agent permission to act as your direct representative. MuveOne will provide you with the necessary form after you confirm your booking.
Please ensure that you print and sign all the documents and have them prepared in a large envelope for the driver. Furthermore, please kindly submit the completed documents electronically through the customer portal for the purpose of verification.
On the day of your move, we will provide you with a CMR form (cargo movement form) to fill out.
If you wish to expedite the process or obtain further information, it is recommended to contact your local customs office in Luxembourg.
