Documents Necessary for Your Relocation to Hungary:
Following Brexit, removals from the UK to Hungary involve specific bureaucratic processes. All residential moves are subject to official requirements, and failing to comply with these requirements results in treating your belongings as regular export/import, necessitating the payment of import VAT based on the total value of goods. To obtain Transfer of Residence status and qualify for tax exemption, the customs authorities in Hungary require the documents listed below. Please note that the requirements for post-Brexit removals are subject to change, and while we strive to keep this page updated, the Customer Portal remains the best source for the most current information on paperwork requirements related to Brexit.
To Proceed with Your Removal, We Require the Completion of the Following Paperwork:
A clear copy of your ID card or Passport.
A residency certificate from the local council in Hungary. Alternatively, if approved by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document confirming your EU residency or intention to become one. Examples include:
- If living with family in the EU, please have them complete and sign this template and provide copies of their personal ID and a utility bill with the address.
- If employed in the EU, please provide your EU employment contract.
- If you have living arrangements in the EU, please provide a utility bill with your name and address, or your tenancy agreement, or the property ownership deed.
A detailed and signed packing list indicating the value, size, and weight of each item. Please ensure that all fields in the MuveOne Insurance Form are completed.
UK certificate of residence or other evidence proving that you have resided in the UK for at least the past 12 months (e.g., 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements displaying your address).
A self-certificate (please use this provided template) to inform customs authorities that you have used the household objects at your UK residence for over six months, do not intend to sell, rent, or pledge them after receiving them in your new location, and plan to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
Once you confirm your booking, MuveOne will supply you with a blank form for the customs clearance agent to act as your direct representative, which will require your signature for authorization.
Please ensure that you print and sign all documents and have them readily available in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, please submit the completed documents electronically through the customer portal for verification.
The CMR form will be provided by the driver on the day of your move, and assistance will be given to fill it out.
