If you’re planning a move from the United Kingdom to Germany, the required paperwork has significantly increased since Brexit. Previously, minimal documentation was needed for such residential removals. However, under the Transfer of Residence procedure, you must now provide seven specific documents. Failing to obtain the Transfer of Residence status may lead to import VAT charges, which amount to 19% of the total value of imported goods in Germany.
Copy of your ID card or Passport.
Certificate from the local council in Germany confirming residency. Alternatively, if agreed upon by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document indicating your EU residency or intention to become one. For example:
- If you reside with your family in the EU, please have them complete and sign the provided template. Also, include copies of their personal IDs and a utility bill displaying the address.
- If you are employed in the EU, provide your EU employment contract.
- If you have living arrangements in the EU, provide a utility bill or tenancy agreement with your name and address, or the property ownership deed.
Comprehensive packing list that is both detailed and signed. This should include the value, size, and weight of each item being shipped. Ensure all fields in the MuveOne Insurance Form are filled.
UK certificate of residence or evidence of residing in the UK for the past 12 months (e.g., 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address).
Self-certificate (use the provided template) informing customs authorities that you have used the household objects at your UK residence for more than six months, and you do not intend to sell, rent, or pledge them after receiving them in your new place. Also, confirm your intention to remain an EU resident for at least one year.

Signed authorization allowing the customs clearance agent to act as your direct representative. MuveOne will provide a blank form after your booking confirmation.
Please ensure that you print and sign all the documents, keeping them ready in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, electronically submit the completed documents through the customer portal for verification purposes.
On the day of collection, you will need to fill in another document, namely the CMR form, which will be provided to you by the driver.
