Post-Brexit Removals to Denmark: Required Documentation
Moving between the UK and Denmark is no longer a simple process. However, with the assistance of a reputable removal company, no amount of bureaucracy is too intimidating! To transport goods to Denmark, a Transfer of Residence status is now required due to Brexit. This status exempts the goods in transit from import VAT (25% of the total value). If the customs officer deems that the transport is not eligible for Transfer of Residence status, import VAT may be imposed. To avoid this charge, complete the necessary paperwork as outlined below.
To comply with the regulations for residential removals between the UK and Denmark, we will need the following documents:
Documents Required for Residential Removals between UK and Denmark
Clear Copy of ID card or Passport.
A certificate from the local council in Denmark to certify residency. Alternatively, if agreed by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document confirming that you are an EU resident or intend to become one. For instance:
- If you reside with your family in the EU, they should complete and sign this template, and provide a copy of their personal ID and a utility bill with the address.
- If you are employed in the EU, provide your EU employment contract.
- If you have living arrangements in the EU, provide a utility bill with your name and address, tenancy agreement, or property ownership deed.
A detailed, signed packing list with the value, size, and weight of each item. Please complete all fields in the MuveOne Insurance Form.
A UK certificate of residence or proof that you have lived in the UK for at least the last 12 months, such as 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements indicating your address.
A self-certificate (using this template) informing customs authorities that you have used the household items at your usual UK residence for more than six months, that you won’t sell, rent, or pledge them after receiving them in your new location, and that you intend to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
A signed authorization document for the customs clearance agent to act as your direct representative. After you confirm your booking, MuveOne will provide you with a blank form.
To ensure a smooth process on the day of your move, it’s necessary to print and sign all the documents listed and keep them in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, please submit completed documents electronically via the customer portal for verification purposes.
Apart from the aforementioned documents, you’ll also require a CMR or cargo movement form, which the driver will provide you with on the day of your move.
