Essential Documents for Your Relocation to Romania
To facilitate your move to Romania, certain documents are necessary due to the bureaucratic procedures established since 2021. Following Brexit, we require several documents, not for our own purposes, but for the customs office in Romania, your destination country. These documents will be assessed by Romanian customs authorities to determine if your relocation qualifies for Transfer of Residence status. Without this status, in the event of an unfavorable outcome, your belongings may be treated as a regular import and subjected to import VAT based on the total value of your goods.
Please Note that the Following Documents are Essential, and We Cannot Proceed with Collecting Your Belongings Until All the Paperwork is Complete:
A clear copy of your ID card or Passport.
A residency certificate issued by the local council in Romania. Alternatively, if approved by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document verifying your EU residency or intention to become one. For instance:
- If your family members live with you in the EU, please request their cooperation in filling out and signing this template Additionally, kindly ensure they provide a photocopy of their personal identification and a utility bill that shows the address.
- If you are currently working in the EU, kindly submit a copy of your employment contract from your EU employer.
- If you have a residence in the EU, submit a utility bill with your name and address, a tenancy agreement, or the property ownership deed.
A comprehensive packing list that is signed, including the value, size, and weight of each item. Please ensure that all fields in the MuveOne MuveOne Insurance Form are completed.
A UK certificate of residence or other proof indicating that you have resided in the UK for at least the past 12 months (e.g., 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address).
A document certifying the termination of your living arrangements in the UK, such as a letter from your former landlord or a deed of sale.
A self-certificate (please use this template) to inform the customs authorities that you’ve used the household objects at your usual residence in the UK for more than six months and that you won’t sell, rent or pledge them after receiving them in your new place and that you aim to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
A signed authorization granting the customs clearance agent permission to act as your direct representative. MuveOne will provide you with a blank form after confirming your booking.
Please ensure that you print and sign all the necessary documents and keep them ready in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, kindly submit the completed documents electronically through the customer portal for verification.
Please note that the aforementioned documents must be provided prior to the scheduled move day. When our driver arrives to collect your belongings, they will also provide you with a CMR form.
