Required Documents for Moving to Slovakia
If you’re planning to move from the United Kingdom to Slovakia, it’s important to be aware of the necessary paperwork, especially in light of Brexit. Residential moves between the UK and EU now require specific documentation, as they fall under the Transfer of Residence status. This status is crucial in convincing customs authorities that your move is a house removal and not a standard import, ultimately exempting you from the import VAT rates.
In Order to Assist You, We Have Compiled a List of Essential Documents that We will Require from You at Least One Week Before Proceeding with Your Relocation:
A clear copy of your ID card or Passport.
A certificate from the local council in Slovakia, certifying your residency. Alternatively, if approved by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document confirming your status as an EU resident or your intention to become one. For instance:
- If you reside with your family in the EU, kindly ask them to complete and sign the enclosed template. In addition, please ensure to include copies of their valid personal identification documents, such as passports or driver’s licenses, as well as a recent utility bill that clearly displays their current residential address.
- If you are employed in the EU, please submit your EU employment contract.
- If you have made living arrangements in the EU, please furnish a utility bill in your name and address, or your tenancy agreement, or the property ownership deed.
A comprehensive packing list, signed by you, including the value, size, and weight of each item on the list. Please ensure that all fields in the MuveOne Insurance Form are completed.
A UK certificate of residence or any other evidence that demonstrates your residency in the UK for at least the past 12 months. This could include 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements indicating your address.
A document certifying the termination of your living arrangements in the UK, such as a letter from your former landlord or a deed of sale.
A self-certificate, using the provided template to inform the customs authorities that the household items you are shipping have been used at your previous residence in the UK for more than six months. Additionally, confirm that you have no intention to sell, rent, or pledge these items after receiving them at your new location. Please state your commitment to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
A signed authorization allowing the customs clearance agent to act as your direct representative. MuveOne will supply you with a blank form after you confirm your booking.
Please ensure that you print and sign all the necessary documents and keep them ready in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, please submit the completed documents electronically through the customer portal for verification.
Before your belongings can be collected, the following documents must be provided. On the day of your move, you will also be given a cargo movement form (CMR) to complete.
