Essential Documents for Your Relocation to Slovenia (After Brexit)
To facilitate your relocation to Slovenia, certain documents are required due to the changes brought about by Brexit. Moving from the UK to Slovenia now entails treating it as a cross-border transportation of goods. Consequently, customs authorities necessitate comprehensive paperwork to classify your relocation as a ‘Transfer of Residence.’ This designation has become imperative in the post-Brexit era for individuals moving between the UK and Slovenia.
Failing to obtain the Transfer of Residence status may result in the imposition of import VAT. Determining whether a transit qualifies as a Transfer of Residence rests with the customs office in Slovenia.
To Ensure the Collection of Your Goods, We Kindly Request the Following Documents:
A clear copy of your ID card or Passport.
A certificate from the local council in Slovenia to confirm your residency. Alternatively, if approved by the EU customs agent, you may provide a document stating that you are an EU resident or have the intention to become one. Examples include:
- If you live with your family in the EU, please have them complete and sign this template. Additionally, provide copies of their personal IDs and a utility bill displaying the address.
- If you are employed in the EU, please provide your EU employment contract.
- If you have living arrangements in the EU, please provide a utility bill with your name and address, a tenancy agreement, or the property ownership deed.
A comprehensive packing list is signed, indicating the value, size, and weight of each item. Please complete all the fields in the MuveOne Insurance Form provided.
A UK certificate of residence or other evidence demonstrating that you have resided in the UK for a minimum of 12 months (e.g., 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address).
A self-certificate (please utilize this template) to inform the customs authorities that you have used the household items at your UK residence for more than six months, and that you do not intend to rent, sell, or pledge them after receiving them at your new location. Additionally, state your intention to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
A signed authorization granting the customs clearance agent the authority to act as your direct representative. MuveOne will provide you with a blank form after you confirm your booking.
Please ensure that you print and sign all the documents and have them prepared in a large envelope for the driver. Additionally, please provide completed electronic copies of the documents through the customer portal for verification.
The listed documents are required prior to the collection of your belongings. On the day of your move, you will also receive a CMR form (cargo movement) to complete.
If you wish to expedite the process or obtain further information, it is advisable to contact your local customs office in Slovenia.
